RIP Origins.net

The following message has been sent out by FindmyPast (www.findmypast.co.uk), which acquired the Origins platform in June 2014 (see http://britishgenes.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/findmypast-acquires-originsnet.html).

Changes to origins.net

This message is to inform you that over the next couple of days, Origins.net will be closing down. We want to reassure you that all of the records formerly available on Origins can now be found on FindmyPast.

Visit FindmyPast for more information and to continue your family history journey.

Thanks,

The FindmyPast team

And with that, one of the pioneering web platforms of the modern genealogical internet age makes its way into the night towards the great unknown. From a Scottish point of view, Origins was the first site to present much of the data now available on the ScotlandsPeople platform, and it was on Origins that Griffiths Valuation was first presented online, not to mention many English and Welsh probate indexes. The data held by the site is now available on FindmyPast and ScotlandsPeople, but not the Origins experience.

RIP Origins.net
